Quebec User Evaluation of Satisfaction with Assistive Technology (QUEST 2.0)
A 12-item questionnaire measuring satisfaction with an assistive technology device and related services.
By Claire White
- Self-administered or administered with support; approximately 10 to 15 minutes.
- 12 items: 8 device-related (dimensions, weight, adjustability, safety, durability, ease of use, comfort, effectiveness) and 4 service-related (delivery, repairs, professional services, follow-up).
- Each item rated 1 (not satisfied) to 5 (very satisfied).
- Used to evaluate communication devices, BCIs, and AAC systems.
What it measures
The QUEST 2.0 asks users to rate 12 aspects of their assistive technology experience: eight that concern the device itself (dimensions, weight, ease of adjustment, safety, durability, simplicity of use, comfort, and effectiveness), and four that concern services received (delivery, repairs and servicing, professional services, and follow-up). Users then identify the 3 most important items to them.
What the result tells you
Mean scores per subscale (device and service) and overall (1 to 5) indicate satisfaction level. Lower scores identify specific device features or service aspects that need improvement. The QUEST is used in BCI and AAC research to evaluate user acceptance and guide iterative design. It is applicable to people with locked-in syndrome evaluating communication devices.
