Shane Brubaker

Shane Brubaker is senior manager of bioinformatics software engineering at Myriad Genetics, where he works on large-scale genomic data management and the governance systems around it, including data separation, retention and deletion for patient genomic data. He took a computer science degree at Purdue and a master's in neuroscience at the University of Oregon, then spent his career in genomics and synthetic biology, at Affymetrix during the ENCODE tiling-array work, at LS9, and as director of bioinformatics at Solazyme. He is named on patents assigned to Affymetrix, LS9 and TerraVia, wrote the fourth edition of Bioinformatics with Python Cookbook, teaches at UC Santa Cruz Silicon Valley Extension, and co-founded the Bay Area Bioinformatics Forum. His stated interests include connectomics and brain modelling.
